It struck me at some point during my business career that I had the ability to stop time! With my first film SLR, a Konica FT-1, I realized the immense power I had to freeze and preserve moments of time and place. That amazing capability, combined with a passion for travel and exploration, alongside a fascination with the technical capture of imagery on film, led to my enthusiasm for photography as a hobbyist while immersed in a full-time career in business technologies.
Years later, life and career changes have opened pathways that now enable me to dig further into the craft and to commit the time, energies and resources needed to further develop my skills. My growth in this space is ongoing, motivated by a desire to produce the best imagery possible as a means of self-expression and sharing. I’ve formed Open Road Visuals as part of that journey and as a means for sharing my visual experiences from along the proverbial open road.
A native and lifelong resident of the New York metropolitan area, I recently relocated to the Southern Delaware coast, which puts me in close contact with the area’s ocean and bays, beaches, marshland and brilliant sunrises and sunsets. I shoot mainly landscapes but also enjoy illustrating certain subjects in documentary or photojournalistic styles.
I travel as much as I can as a means for experiencing the variety of the visual world. Favorite destinations are coastal Maine, the desert Southwest, the Delmarva and anywhere else that time and budgets permit. With good fortune, I hope to expand into other forms of photography, such as still life, fine art, architecture, portraiture and commercial real estate and interiors.
